About Sandals

Mulberry Lots Built for Something Better Than a Catalog Pool

Mulberry’s mix of ranch-style homes, Mediterranean-influenced newer builds in communities like Bridgeport Lakes, and larger acreage parcels near the Alafia River Reserve gives every backyard a distinct footprint. A catalog pool dropped into that kind of property rarely fits the way it should. Sandals Luxury Pools approaches each Mulberry project with a clean sheet, designing around your actual yard, your site grade, your views, and how you plan to use the space, whether that is a lagoon-style family pool, an infinity-edge build overlooking a lakefront yard, or a compact sun-shelf design for a tighter lot.

Your Dream Pool Awaits

Florida’s Long Swim Season Demands Smart Equipment Choices

Mulberry’s humid subtropical climate means pool season stretches well beyond the summer months. Florida’s rainy season runs from May through October, with afternoon thunderstorms and heavy rainfall common, and comfortable swim temperatures can carry well into November and December with proper heating. Sandals builds with that extended calendar in mind, specifying equipment that performs under consistent load, handles significant rainfall and debris cycles, and keeps operating costs reasonable across a season that Central Florida homeowners actually use fully. A pool heater installation and quality pool automation system are two of the most practical additions for any Mulberry build.

Every Build Scope Handled by One Builder

Mulberry homeowners frequently discover mid-project how complicated it becomes to manage a pool contractor, a separate hardscape crew, an outdoor kitchen installer, and a lighting specialist who have never worked together. Sandals Luxury Pools eliminates that coordination problem entirely. Pool shell, spillover spa, water features, patios, retaining walls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, and outdoor fireplaces are all planned and delivered under one contract and one point of accountability.

The full scope of outdoor-living work Sandals handles includes: spillover spas, natural waterfalls, outdoor kitchens, fire pits, patios, and retaining walls.

Water Features That Give a Mulberry Backyard Real Character

Flat, still water reads as beautiful in some settings, but Mulberry properties with lakefront views, rolling terrain, or larger lot depth often benefit from moving water that draws the eye and creates a sense of energy in the space. Sandals designs and installs a full range of water features: natural waterfalls built into rock formations, sheer descents for a clean architectural look, deck jets that arc over the water’s surface, bubblers on sun shelves for young children, built-in waterslides, fire and water bowls, and water bowls that suit both contemporary and traditional design palettes.

How We Work

Our Pool Installation Process

Our extensive pool installation process ensures that you save time, money, and the headache of hiring multiple contractors. This approach works well, regardless of the project size. Take a look at the process!

Form / Excavate

Our experts form the pool according to the design and excavate inside the forms to create the hole for the swimming pool.

Shotcrete

Shotcrete is sprayed into the forms after the excavation, plumbing, and steel have been installed.

Tile / Stone

Once the shotcrete has cured, our team will install the tile, and then the stone masons will follow with the stone coping.

Deck / Pebble

Now that the stone is down, our team will form and pour the decking. This is followed by the pebble installation.

Fill / Startup

After the exposed aggregate has been installed, we will fill the swimming pool with water and add start-up chemicals.

Clean-up

With the swimming pool full, our team will go to work installing the spray deck and final clean-up.

Gunite Construction Chosen for Polk County’s Conditions

Mulberry’s terrain, described as flatland interspersed with gently rolling hills, can include pockets of sandy soil, mixed loam, and areas where drainage behaviors vary by parcel, especially near the Alafia River Reserve corridor. Gunite pool construction addresses these realities well. A reinforced concrete shell poured in place conforms to any shape you design, provides exceptional structural integrity under Florida’s soil moisture cycles, and supports the weight of surrounding hardscapes without the flex concerns that affect other construction methods. Every Sandals pool follows a defined six-step process: form and excavate, shotcrete application, tile and stone work, deck and pebble finish, fill and startup, then final cleanup.

What Our Clients Say

Frequently Asked Questions

Every inground pool in Florida requires a building permit before construction begins, and Sandals handles the permit filing for your Mulberry project. Polk County’s building department reviews structural, plumbing, and electrical components separately, so sub-permits are typically required alongside the main pool permit. Sandals manages that process so you are not navigating county offices on your own while the project is underway.

Lakefront and lake-adjacent lots in Mulberry communities like Bridgeport Lakes can present drainage and setback considerations that a standard builder may not account for. Sandals begins every project with a site walkthrough to understand your specific parcel, including proximity to any water body, existing drainage patterns, and easements. Pool placement and shell engineering are then planned to work with those site conditions rather than ignore them.

Mulberry’s Central Florida Highlands terrain ranges from genuinely flat parcels to yards with modest grade changes, particularly near the Alafia River Reserve. Flat lots support almost any shape, from geometric lap configurations to freeform lagoon designs. Sloped sites open the door to infinity-edge builds that use the grade rather than fight it. Sandals designs to the property, so the shape is driven by your land and your lifestyle rather than a standard template.

Saltwater systems are well matched to Florida’s extended swim season. By generating sanitizer through electrolysis, they reduce the need for manual chlorine dosing and produce water that is generally gentler on skin and eyes during heavy-use months. For Mulberry homeowners who swim from spring through late fall, the reduced chemical management burden and lower irritation profile make saltwater a strong specification choice. Sandals can walk you through the cost and maintenance comparison during your design consultation.

Sandy soil drains freely, which reduces hydrostatic pressure concerns common in wetter soil profiles, but it also requires careful attention to pool shell anchoring and backfill compaction. Sandals accounts for the specific soil profile on your parcel during the design phase. Gunite construction is particularly well suited to Florida’s varied soil conditions because the reinforced concrete shell is formed in place and engineered to the site rather than set as a prefabricated unit.

Starting early gives you the most design flexibility. Before landscaping goes in, before a deck or patio is poured, and before fencing is placed, the pool and surrounding hardscapes can be planned as one cohesive environment. Homeowners who wait often find they have boxed in access routes or made landscaping choices that complicate excavation. A conversation with Sandals costs nothing and gives you a clear picture of what is possible on your specific Mulberry property.

Adding a spillover spa to an existing pool depends on the current deck material, the structural condition of the existing pool shell, and how much deck area would need to be cut or removed to run the plumbing connection. In many Mulberry situations a retrofit is feasible without a full deck rebuild. Sandals assesses your existing setup first and gives you an honest scope of what a spa addition actually requires rather than defaulting to a full reconstruction quote.

Most custom gunite builds run eight to twelve weeks from permit issuance through final cleanup, depending on scope, weather delays during Florida’s rainy season, and how many additional features, such as outdoor kitchens, fire pits, or extensive hardscapes, are included. Projects with significant hardscape work or complex water features take longer than a pool-only build. Sandals provides a realistic timeline during the design phase rather than a best-case number that shifts later.

Properties in or near designated flood zones can face additional elevation requirements for pool equipment and may need extra drainage planning to satisfy Polk County review. FEMA flood map designations determine whether your lot carries any elevated foundation or equipment elevation requirements. Sandals identifies these factors during the site assessment so they are addressed in the permit drawings from the start, not discovered mid-build when corrections become expensive.

A pool renovation makes sense when the shell is structurally sound and the plumbing and equipment are serviceable. A full rebuild is justified when the shell shows significant cracking, when the footprint needs to change, or when the cost of bringing aging systems up to current code approaches the cost of starting fresh. A pool inspection by Sandals gives you the honest assessment you need to make that call confidently, without guessing at hidden problems.
